Ich fühlte mich schon seit 2 Tagen nicht wirklich
fit... der kalte starke Wind der letzten 2 Wochen ging durch Mark und Bein! Auf
dem ersten Teil meiner heutigen Reise Richtung Südosten konnte ich mich
entspannen: Um 10:30 Uhr fuhr ich 1 Minute zum Hafen, wo ich schon bald an Bord
der Pentland Fähre (https://pentlandferries.co.uk) konnte, die St. Margarets Hope
auf den Orkney Inseln verliess pünktlich 1 Stunde später. : )
1 1/2 Stunde später kamen wir in Gills Bay an und ich nahm die 250 km der Küste entlang nach Ullapool in Angriff. Ich war total 6 Stunden unterwegs - wunderschön, aber leider nicht das beste Wetter für Fotos!
I hadn't been feeling well for 2 days... the cold, strong winds of the last 2 weeks had really gotten deep into my bones! I was able to relax on the first part of my journey today, heading southeast: At 10:30 am, I drove for 1 minute to the port, where I was soon able to board the Pentland ferry (https://pentlandferries.co.uk), which left St. Margaret's Hope in the Orkney Islands on schedule 1 hour later. : )
1 1/2 hour later we arrived in Gills Bay and I tackled the 250 km drive along the coast to Ullapool. The drive took me 6 hours in total - beautiful, but unfortunately not the best weather for taking photos!

In Ullapool kaufte ich das nötigste ein und fuhr
die letzten 10 Minuten für heute nach Inverlael, wo ich für 5 Nächte das Bothy
Cottage (https://inverlaelfarmcottages.com/our-holiday-cottages) gemietet hatte. Als ich mich
dort einrichtete, bemerkte ich wie müde, energielos und krank ich mich
fühlte... ich stellte die Heizung auf die höchste Stufe und kroch fröstelnd für
12 Stunden ins Bett...
In Ullapool, I bought the essentials and then drove the last 10 minutes for the day to Inverlael, where I had rented the Bothy Cottage (https://inverlaelfarmcottages.com/our-holiday-cottages) for 5 nights. As I settled in, I noticed how tired, energyless and ill I felt. I turned the heating up to the highest setting and shivering crawled into bed for 12 hours.

Der nächste Tag präsentierte sich grau, nass und
kalt - ich liess die Heizung auf der höchsten Stufe und pendelte den ganzen Tag
zwischen Bett, Küche und Badzimmer... Ich fühlte mich echt mies... erkältet… eine
Grippe mit einem hässlichem Husten... Zum Glück ist das Bothy Cottage sehr
gemütlich und hat sogar einen Ofen zum einfeuern, den ich aber nicht benutzte -
alleine und ich hatte die Wohnung ja eh
schon aufgeheizt!
The next day dawned gray, wet, and cold. I kept the heating up to the highest setting and spent the whole day shuttling between the bed, the kitchen, and the bathroom. I felt truly awful - like I had a cold… a flu with a nasty cough... Luckily, the Bothy Cottage is very cozy and even has a wood-burning stove, which I didn't use - I was alone, and I'd already heated the place up!

Am Mittwoch fühlte ich mich zwar immer noch nicht
besser, aber ich hatte das Gefühl wenn ich nach draussen gehe, geht es mir
schnell besser... eine Runde joggen im Wald, als die Sonne rauskam und dann auf
Entdeckungstour nach Ullapool.
On Wednesday, I still didn't feel any better, but I had the feeling that going outside would quickly make me feel better. I went for a run in the woods when the sun came out, and then explored Ullapool.

So ging es die ganze Woche, ich ruhte aus bei Regen
und als die Sonne sich zeigte, zeigte auch ich mich draussen. Ich packte mich
warm ein und fuhr eine Runde, um das atemberaubende West-Schottland zu
bestaunen…
That's how it went all week: I rested when it rained, and when the sun came out, I went outside. I bundled up warmly and went for a drive to admire the breathtaking scenery of western Scotland…

Ich wusste auch, dass es eine Weile dauern würde,
bis ich mich wieder ganz gesund fühlen werde... denn ausser ein paar Mebucaine
nehme ich keine Medizin, sondern nur meine Zeit, oder besser gesagt, die Zeit,
die ich brauche um wieder gesund und resistent zu werden!

I also knew it would take a while before I felt
completely healthy again… because apart from some Mebucaine, I don't take any
medication, just time, or rather, the time I need to become healthy and
resilient again!
