Nach
meiner 6-monatigen abenteuerlichen Reise quer durch Afrika von Äthiopien über
Sansibar & Tansania nach Malawi, Sambia
und Namibia (https://franziskaaeschbach32.blogspot.com),
habe ich vor diesen Sommer das Vereinigte Königreich zu umrunden... sicher mal
die Ostküste entlang Richtung Norden nach Schottland, wo ich meine Tochter und
meine Enkelinnen treffen werde...
Ich
verbrachte den ersten Monat zum Ankommen in Europa bei meiner Tochter Melanie
und ihrer Familie... dann fuhr ich durch Frankreich bis nach Calais, wo ich am
31. Mai die P & O Fähre (https://booking.poferries.com)
nach Dover nahm. Obschon ich mich 90 Minuten vor Abfahrt im Hafen befand, hatte
ich Glück, dass ich die gebuchte Fähre um 13:20 Uhr erwischte - es herrschte
viel Betrieb!
After my adventurous six-month journey across Africa, from Ethiopia through Zanzibar & Tanzania to Malawi, Zambia, and Namibia (https://franziskaaeschbach32.blogspot.com), I plan to circumnavigate the United Kingdom this summer... gor sure along the east coast heading north to Scotland, where I'll meet my daughter and granddaughters.
With Melanie and her family I had spent the first month settling in to Europe in Switzerland. Thereafter I drove Northern France to Calais, where I took the P&O Ferry (https://booking.poferries.com) to Dover on May 31st. Although I arrived at the port 90 minutes before departure, I was lucky enough to catch the booked 1:20 PM ferry – it was veeery busy!

Stunden später ging ich in Dover an Land und fuhr direkt (5 Minuten) zum Dover Hotel Marina & SPA (https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/rcsdmup-dover-marina-hotel-and-spa),
wo ich für zwei Nächte ein Zimmer gebucht hatte. Ich nahm mir die Zeit, mich
erst einmal an Grossbritannien zu akklimatisieren... den nächsten Schritt zu
planen... und meine neue Freiheit zu feiern! - Ja, nach einem Monat auf der
rechten Seite fahren, musste ich mich jetzt wieder umgewöhnen... aber auf
dieser Insel auch an die anderen Messeinheiten: Wie viel Kilometer pro Stunde
sind 50 Meilen pro Stunde?? - Mit der Zeit werde ich auch das herausfinden...
An hour and a half later, I disembarked in Dover and drove straight (5 minutes) to the Dover Hotel Marina & Spa (https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/rcsdmup-dover-marina-hotel-and-spa), where I had booked a room for 2 nights. I took the time to acclimatize to Great Britain, plan my next steps and celebrate my newfound freedom! Yes, after a month of driving on the right, I had to readjust... but also to the different units of measurement on this island: How many kilometres per hour are 50 miles per hour?? - I'll figure that out eventually...

fantastischen Abhyanga Massage! Und ein
Auslauf auf die weissen Felsen von Dover durfte auch nicht fehlen - Willkommen
im Vereinten Königreich! : )

I treated
myself to the delicious breakfast buffet and a visit to the spa... including an
Abhyanga massage! And a run up to the white cliffs of Dover was a must too –
welcome to the United Kingdom! : )
